My few days in Phuket were a mix of adventure, relaxation, and unexpected challenges that taught me valuable lessons about patience and vigilance. This post shares my experience traveling from Phuket to Railey Beach and Krabi, highlighting the surprises that come with tides, transportation delays, and local encounters.

Phuket Old Town Arrival and First Impressions in Phuket

After a long 12-hour bus ride covering approximately 900 kilometers from Bangkok, I arrived at Phuket’s central bus station. The plan was clear: find transportation to my hotel and then explore the nearby islands. The map app on my phone showed the routes and timings, but reality soon proved different. A significant delay in transportation made me realize that travel here requires flexibility and awareness.

Local troublemakers often target solo travelers, looking for opportunities to scam or rob. Staying calm and alert helped me avoid trouble. A kind local stayed with me until I boarded the correct transport, reminding me that kindness exists even in unfamiliar places.

Once at the hotel, I checked in, refreshed myself with a swim in the pool, and celebrated the end of a long journey. Exploring Phuket’s Old Town and spending quiet moments by the pool journaling gave me a good taste of the island’s charm.
